My focus for my assignment will be the introduction of a learning platform, Merlin, to a small village school in Dorset. .
Why I've chosen this focus.
I have chosen this focus because this module has - fortunately - co-incided with the introductory training for Merlin. There has been a mixed reaction from all stakeholders.
Who are the participants for the study.
I will consider the impact, initial thoughts of both children, teaching assistants, teachers and parents
The nature of the practical project.
Part of my evaluation will be exactly what can be put onto the learning platform. So far I have included Movie maker movies from trips out, slide shows of children's work, and discussion forums.
How I'm going to go about the study, ie next steps.
I have issued a questionnaire about ICT to teaching staff and teaching assistants, considerng barriers to use of ICT in school. I hope to ask parents their views and concerns before the end of term. However, time may restrict and I may have to leave that until early September. I think there needs to be a clearer agreed vision of the expected use of the learning platform, as it's potential is massive if it is embraced. However, it could very quickly become a dinosaur.
